Fenouil

> paintings available

Born in 1936 in Marseilles he studied drawing and sculpture under Louis Bottinelli (Prix de Rome).
At the same time he took courses at the Marseilles School of Fine Arts, architecture section, a field to which he devoted ten years before sailing for four years on a boat which he had designed and built himself. This love for the sea and painting logically led him in 1975 to taking it up professionally, with growing success both in France and abroad.
Via favorite subjects, as varied as the sea, landscapes of the south of France, young girls in the sun, or large compositions (essentially Venetian) the work of Fenouil is a pictorial poem, a "little day music" full of refinement, and celebration of light. His acute sensitivity to the special overtones of each design enables him to continually harmonize his range of colors to the experienced emotion: several reoccurring colors of infinite nuance make a Mediterranean sky stand out, or the Venetian mists whisper.
But the touch is always light, and the material fluid, supported by a free and spontaneous design by dint of mastership and a daring sense of composition. Compositions which skillfully play on opposites: the distinct and indistinct, the suggested and the structured, the empty and the full, the present and the timeless, to become fulfilled in a perfect circle of equilibrium and perfect harmony.
A dream moored to the shore of reality.
Frédérique Albertini
